There is a lot of talk about drugs in the world\u2014on the streets, at school, on the Internet and TV. Some of it is true, some not.<\/span><\/p>

Much of what you hear about drugs actually comes from those selling them. Reformed drug dealers have confessed they would have said anything to get others to buy drugs.<\/span><\/p>

Don\u2019t be fooled. You need facts to avoid becoming hooked on drugs and to help your friends stay off\u00a0them.<\/span><\/p>

Sooner or later\u2014if it hasn\u2019t already happened\u2014you, or someone close to you, will be offered drugs. The decision of whether or not to use them could drastically affect your life. Any addict will tell you they never expected a drug to take control of their life or maybe that they started with \u201cjust pot\u201d and that it was \u201cjust something to do\u201d with their friends. They thought they could handle it and when they found out they couldn\u2019t,\u00a0it was too late.<\/span><\/p>

The Statewide Agency for Substance Abuse Policy (ASAP) was created during the 2000 regular session of the Kentucky General Assembly. KY-ASAP is responsible for developing a statewide strategic plan to reduce the prevalence of alcohol, tobacco and other drug abuse among youth and adult populations across Kentucky.<\/p>

KY-ASAP is also charged with finding ways to ensure the most effective coordination and the best use of funding for all prevention and treatment programs statewide.<\/p>

To accomplish these goals and effectively assess Kentucky\u2019s diverse needs, local ASAP boards are currently being established. In Scott Co Board KY ASAP, a board has been created to ensure a comprehensive range of services.<\/p>

The Primary objectives of Scott Co Board KY-ASAP are to:<\/p>

  • Consider all current local resources<\/li>
  • Engage local community members in KY-ASAP<\/li>
  • Encourage collaboration and coordination among all prevention, intervention and treatment organizations across the region<\/li>
  • Develop long-term strategies to reduce youth and adult drug use and promote effective treatment<\/li><\/ul>

    Scott Co Board KY ASAP (Kentucky Agency for Substance Abuse Policy) Local Board:<\/p>

    Mission: The local board shall develop a long-term community strategy that is designed to reduce the incidence of youth and young adult smoking and tobacco addiction, promote resistance to smoking, reduce the incidence of substance abuse, and promote effective treatment of substance abuse.<\/p>

    Vision: A region of healthy communities free of alcohol, tobacco and other drug use and related consequences.<\/p><\/div><\/div>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t
